HAPAL has now acquired a permanent home office in Lower Paxton Township, which will expand our services to all of the youth of Dauphin County. Our new property has a baseball field for our younger youth, a fieldhouse and a small community playground adjacent to the field. On another portion of the property, we are setting up The Harrisburg Area Police Athletic League Youth Center building and organizing an additional storage building.
We are currently preparing the property for a Spring 2024 opening to all youth in the Dauphin County Area. In addition to our Mentoring Through Sports Programs, we are developing a new Literature and Arts program. We have done a lot of work on the property so far but have a lot more left to do before we can open. We are looking for Volunteers to help us paint, clean, organize and prepare the field and grounds for our Spring 2024 opening. With our new property, the possibilities are endless, and we are blessed and excited to be able to offer programming for the youth of the Harrisburg Area.
We would also like to announce our new collaboration with Premier Charter School, where we will be starting our Life’s Longlearners Initiatives programming two days a week, EH Phillips Elementary and Penbrook Twp Parks and Recreation. We look forward to continuing to build these relationships and are excited for the impact we will have in the lives of the children. I would like to thank Commissioner Carter of the Harrisburg Police Department and Homeland for giving HAPAL office space over the past few years. We do hope to keep the Harrisburg office as our satellite office, if permitted, and will continue to mentor and involve the youth of Harrisburg in all of our programming opportunities.
